Ta Prohm
This complex, erected by Jayavarman VII in 1186, for sure is one of the most impressive Angkorian temples because Ta Phrom generates a virtually mystic atmosphere. The founders of all the Angkorian temples in the Cambodian virgin forests aimed at one thing- at least one complex should be left in its entire condition in which it had been discovered. I am sure, you will also be impressed of how the huge fig trees or the even bigger trees of another tree specie, the Tetrameles nudiflora, let the walls of Ta Phrom almost disappear under their roots.
Ta Phrom became also known when the film ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Rider’ was made here.
